The New Lexicon offers participants a sustained framework in which to deepen the artistic, technical, and intellectual dimensions of their practices. Over several months, participants can move beyond the compressed exchange of a single workshop and develop questions through presentation, response, revision, experimentation, and public articulation.
The programme provides an opportunity to clarify the concepts and philosophical commitments implicit in technological decisions; advance artistic works, systems, texts, and research projects through substantive feedback; develop more precise languages for presenting and contextualizing work; examine the histories and infrastructures on which a practice depends; test artistic and theoretical propositions within an international research community; and encounter methods, aesthetic positions, and technical cultures beyond one’s usual field of reference.
Participants will also be able to situate their practices within wider philosophical, historical, ecological, institutional, and political debates. This contextualization is not intended to displace the specificity of making. It enables practitioners to understand more clearly how their work participates in, resists, or transforms the technological conditions around it.
The residency may generate new artistic directions, research questions, prototypes, presentation formats, and intellectual relationships. It creates a basis for future collaborations, publications, performances, lectures, and research projects beyond the residency’s formal duration. Its value lies not in delivering a single model of technological progress, but in equipping participants to formulate stronger questions, make more deliberate decisions, and communicate the significance and consequences of their practices with greater precision.
